Corina Turner & Diane Smith
Are our two HRDC-sponsored interns working in Tanzania and Uganda. They arrived in November 2002 and will live in Africa until early April. Their work focuses on developing Fair Trade crafts, teaching the craftspeople about business management, quality standards, and shipping issues. We purchase their crafts for sale in Worldly Goods, and also wholesale to other Fair Trade stores.
Here they are at the Minnedosa Café, in Missungwi, Tanzania. Operated by Asteria Gwajima, she named the café after Dinah Ceplis’, her sponsor’s hometown in Manitoba.

Besides fine dining, they have participated in our HIV/AIDS project, including visiting youth groups with Michael O’Connor from ICAD.
