Overview
Composting is the process of turning organic waste into a rich soil amendment called humus. Backyard composting is easy to learn and is full of benefits for you and the environment. Composting 101: First Aid for Our Community and Our Planet is a composting education program that promotes the economic and environmental benefits of backyard composting. It is funded by the Waste Reduction and Pollution Prevention (WRAPP) Fund of Manitoba Conservation and was started in March of 2002.

Composting 101 combines the skills and efforts of the City of Brandon, Brent Hansen Environmental, Clark Community Consulting, Westman Recycling Council and The Marquis Project. Thanks to the Compost Action Project of Resource Conservation Manitoba for providing support, training, and resources.
